Assignment: Masonry and Roofing Repairs
Duration: 2 years
Project Value: $1.1 million
Located on North Lake Shore Drive, this aging old world structure underwent a full stone façade restoration. To mimic the original, all the stone joints were hand chiseled for a rough, uneven texture and tuck pointed 100%. Many damaged stones were replaced, including a large three piece suspended stone soffit above an entrance. As the project unfolded, many of the two story masonry encased steel piers were found to be badly deteriorated, requiring major steel reinforcing and rebuilding. After the stone repairs were complete, the entire building was cleaned restoring it to its original glorious appearance.
